Anyone else feels like this sometimes or is it just me?

Happy Birthday, Jacob!

Jacob is 5 today! He is so fun and we are thrilled he is in our family. He makes us smile!

Jacob's favorite trick. He shows this to anyone who will watch.
(He bends his thumb all the way back to his wrist.)

His other favorite trick. (He pulls his finger in half.... Ouch!:) )
Here's Joshua.....

This is Joshua's "Angry Face"

This is his "Happy Face".
(I know it's blurry but this is the face he makes immediately after we ask,
"Where's your happy face?")

This is the face Joshua makes when he asks for his shoes
or when he wants me to wipe his nose.
We are so thankful for our boys! (I'll post pictures of our other boys at a later time!) We are looking forward to two weeks of Spring Break fun. A trip to the Grand Canyon awaits, a stay in Yuma, and then a fun time at California Adventure. (Let's hope we don't have any more barf episodes.....)

Quote of the Day

After reading 2 Nephi 21:7
Blake says:
"So one of the signs of the Second Coming is that lions will become herbivores?"

When the traveling gets rough.......

As my earlier post stated, we went to Utah this past weekend for Grandma's funeral. Now that we're home, we are so glad the entire family got to go. But while we were traveling, I was this close to turning the car around and heading back home. Here's why:
We left Yucaipa at 6pm - only 2 hours later than when we were planning on leaving. Not bad. About 2 1/2 hours into the trip Brandon said he felt like throwing up. I quickly gave him a McDonald's bag and he proceeded to fill it up. I don't know why I thought that a paper bag was going to hold in liquid chunks. Now I know paper bags don't hold liquid chunks. Soon the seat and Brandon were covered in barf. Lovely. We pulled over on the side of the road and cleaned up. I knew I should've packed paper towels. After using many wipes, the mess was cleaned up. Brandon was now in the back seat of the van with Blake and Jacob. The car smelled great. About a half hour later Brandon felt like throwing up again. I quickly handed him a plastic bag and he threw up in that. We pulled over to a gas station and threw away the evidence. We are not yet to Las Vegas and the boys are now wondering where the hotel is. (We had been planning on driving to St. George).
We told the boys to just hold still and we would make it soon. We stopped in North Las Vegas (just 3 1/2 hours from our house!) and found a Holiday Inn Express. (So much for trying to drive to St. George). We got in the hotel and we were glad to be in a clean place. As Dan was holding Joshua to put him to sleep, he threw up all over Dan, the floor, and the bed. Lovely. We cleaned up and we all went to bed. We were tired. It's a good thing the nice people in the hotel had placed earplugs for everyone in each room so that the trains that went by in the middle of the night weren't too loud. We got up the next morning and I was feeling flu-like. I had a stuffy nose, watery eyes, achy body, etc. I told Dan that if we headed back now we could make it home and he could still drive with his brother, Sam, who hadn't left California yet. But we decided to keep going. We got a car freshener, Vanillaroma, and we were set to continue the drive. We really are glad we did. The services were lovely but we hadn't seen the last of the throw- up yet. Brandon threw up twice on Saturday night but this time in a toilet. He felt better and so far we think we have seen the last of the throw-up.
We are so glad we kept going. We had such a great time visiting family and getting reacquainted. The boys love seeing Grandpa and Grandma Hull. They are such wonderful people. We drove home Sunday and I spent most of Monday in bed. I'm feeling better now and I am looking forward to a great week. I hope nobody else gets sick.

Eleanor Moore Bartholomew

We went to Utah this past weekend to attend the funeral of Dan's 90-year-old grandmother. I must say that I married into the most amazing family. I love my in-laws, Dan's siblings and their families, and Dan's cousins and their families. I know this is because of Grandpa and Grandma Bartholomew. They have left an amazing legacy of love and family. I am so blessed. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa. We love you.

My Funny Valentine...

I know Valentine's Day was a long time ago but I didn't have a blog a long time ago.

My son, Blake, likes to tell jokes and he also likes to make up jokes. The problem is that his jokes don't always make sense. Take for example the following. He liked the joke, "Why is the 6 afraid of the 7? Because 7 8 9." When he finally understood that the number 8 was being used as ate he laughed so hard and then made up the following: "Why is the 3 afraid of the 4? Because 3 4 5!!...... Get it...like when you order a pizza for somebody...get it 4 somebody.......?!?" No, we didn't get it and he was getting frustrated because we couldn't see the humor in it. We tried to explain that just because a word can be used as a homophone it doesn't make it funny. So little by little he has gotten pretty clever at making up some jokes.

I am pleased to present his Valentine from school as evidence that he is getting better.
He had to pick a handful of Conversation Heart candies and then make a story from them. His made me laugh so I thought I'd share.

I can't think of a clever title.......

Well, I've been having a great time reading everyone's blogs but I haven't had the time to sit and actually start our own family blog. So here' s a quick update on The Hulls.

We live in Yucaipa, California (which is located next to Redlands which is next to Loma Linda which is next to San Bernardino).

Dan and I have been married for 11 1/2 years! We have 4 sweet boys. Brandon is 10, Blake is 9, Jacob is 4, and Joshua is 1 (almost 2). I stay home with them and they make me laugh. I teach a few piano lessons each week. We love Yucaipa and we're so glad to only be 3 1/2 hours away from family.

I'm not sure how often I'll be updating but I hope to do it on a regular basis.
